Morocco Equity Markets | 10 Nov 2015: Moroccan equity markets end in red, benchmark index 0.21% down
Casablanca, Morocco, Capital Markets in Africa — The bear appeared on the Casablanca Stock Exchange and the Moroccan benchmark stock index (measured as MASI Index) fell by 0.21 percent to close at 9,212.45 points (with a year-to-date performance to -4.24 percent). The equity market capitalization recorded at MAD 463.801 billion (a decrease of MAD 1.1 million or US$114 million relatively to the previous market capitalization of MAD 464.902 billion).
The market activity measured as total traded value was recorded at MAD 110.304 million relatively to MAD 57.931 million recorded at the previous trading session.
Still on bearish mood, Moroccan most active share index (MADEX) ended at 7,512.57 points (dropping 0.20 percent compared to the previous trading session). FTSE CSE Morocco 15 Index sagged by 0.15 percent to close at 7,937.90 points (-10.01 percent year-to-date performance) and FTSE CSE Morocco All-Liquid Index declined by 0.03 percent to close at 7,730.29 points (to bring the year-to-date performance to -4.10 percent).
In term of sector indices, top gainers were Leisure & Hotels, Holding Companies and Materials & Computer Services sector indices added 3.37 percent, 2.82 percent and 2.16 percent respectively. On the other hand, Distributors sector index (dipped by 2.56 percent to close the year-to-date performance at -0.04 percent), Construction & Building Materials sector index (falling by 2.06 percent to end at 2.44 percent year-to-date return) and Mining sector index (lost 1.45 percent to end at 18,186.78 levels).
Looking at the market price movers and shakers, the movers were M2M Group increased by 5.97 percent to end at MAD 232.70 and INVOLYS grew by 5.97 percent to trade at MAD 126.95. HPS also gained 4.33 percent or MAD 19.90 with a closing price of MAD 479.90 as well as MAGHREBAIL climbed by 3.85 percent to end at MAD 728.00. RISMA surged by 3.37 percent or MAD 5.05 to trade at MAD 155.00.
In the red zone, CDM and AUTO HALL sagged by 5.65 percent (to settle at MAD 434.00) and slumped by 5.23 percent (to trade at MAD 94.63) respectively. STROC INDUSTRIE and CIH also plunged by 3.39 percent (with a closing price of MAD 51.00) and slid by 3.32 percent (to settle at MAD 276.50) respectively. Also, MANAGEM dropped 2.97 percent to settle at MAD 919.00.
